Traditional Burial

Fairmount Provides In-Ground Burial Across Its Expansive And Beautifully Maintained Grounds.

The first burial at Fairmount Cemetery took place in 1855 and we continue today to offer a peaceful resting place for your loved ones.

Our goal is to keep families together. We offer double depth graves which can be used in a variety of different combinations to fulfil the needs of your family. Arrangements can be made for 2 full burials, additionally 2 sets of cremated remains can also be placed at the site. Ask our team about other accommodations.

We encourage you to make the burial service as personal to your loved one as you would like it to be. Play music, read poetry, sing at the grave site. This is your tribute to someone you will forever love and miss.

Was your loved one a Military Veteran? Visit VA.GOV to see if you are eligible for a free Veteran’s marker. Our office is there to help with the paperwork.

Cremation

Fairmount Provides Several Dignified Options

The cremation rate is rising and Fairmount Cemetery provides a clean, respectable and up to date crematory with CANA certified operators. Most families do not attend the cremation itself, however if you have questions or concerns about the process we are here to answer your questions and put your mind at rest.

Cremation allows families to gather at their pace to honor and remember a loved one who has passed. Time to plan a service and decide where to memorialize the remains does not need to be rushed. Cremation is also less expensive than a traditional burial and the remains can be kept with the family. We encourage memorializing the remains with us at Fairmount or at a place of your choosing so that generations to come have a place to visit and learn about a beloved relative or friend.

Mausoleums

The Mausoleum Options Include Crypt And Niche Spaces

The Fairmount Memorial Mausoleum was constructed in the early 1900’s and is at capacity. The structure is a testament to detail and beauty in construction. She stands as a monument to those who came before us including many leaders in the Newark and surrounding communities.

COMING SPRING 2026
Plans are coming together for “THE GARDEN” a new mausoleum to be constructed on the center oval as you enter from Central Avenue. This project will consist of 3 structures of single crypts and niches. A pre-construction discount program will be offered along with interest free financing and other discounts. More details will be available as we move closer to a construction date.
